Live Session Videos in Calgary

One-take performance films with the audio recorded properly. What a band actually sounds like, in one room.

A live session video answers the question a booker or a stranger on YouTube is actually asking: what does this band sound like? It’s one room and one take, with no studio gloss and nobody lip syncing, recorded and filmed like both halves matter. We make live session videos in Calgary for bands and solo artists.

We build them the way records get made, which means the audio gets planned first and everything else follows it.

Sound first, always

Every session starts with the room. We scout for spaces that sound as good as they look, then plan mic placement alongside camera positions, because a boom stand in every shot helps nobody. The performance is recorded multitrack and mixed against reference tracks you pick, so the session sounds like the band on a good night.

This is where hiring a crew of musicians earns its keep, because we can hear which take had the energy in it.

Filmed like a performance

Coverage is multi-camera and deliberate. A wide holds the room, closes find the playing, and the movement follows the arrangement. We light to flatter the space it was shot in. The edit cuts to the musical moments because we can feel where they are, and the grade keeps the room’s character intact.

The finished session is delivered as a full performance film plus vertical excerpts for social, cut from the parts of the song that peak.

What a session does for you

A session is proof for talent buyers and festival juries. It’s a release you can put out between singles without recording anything new. It works for playlist pitches and grant applications, and it’s often what a new listener watches before deciding whether to come to the show. One session day tends to keep working for months.

If a set is best captured in front of a crowd, that’s concert filming. When the song wants a full concept built around it, music video production is the next step up, with the same crew and the same standards.

Common Questions

What's the difference between a live session and a music video?
A music video is a produced piece built around a released recording. A live session is a real performance, captured as played. The audio you hear is the audio from that room. Sessions are cheaper and faster, and bookers and playlist editors tend to trust them.
Where do sessions get filmed?
Jam spaces, living rooms, halls, warehouses, or outside while the weather allows. We scout for rooms with character and manageable acoustics, and we'll look at a space you already have in mind before committing to it.
Do you record the audio yourselves?
Yes. Multitrack capture is part of the package, and we mix against reference tracks you choose. If you have an engineer or producer you trust, we're glad to hand them the stems instead.
How many songs can we film in one session?
Two or three keeper takes in a session day is a realistic target. We'd rather run more takes of less material. If you're tight from touring, a three-song session is still achievable.
